Wolfard Oil Lamp
Northern California, early 1970s: Jon Wolfard, a glassblower at a local research company created an oil lamp in his spare time as a gift for his wife. Friends constantly comment on it and request lamps for themselves, and as demand grows he builds a small glassblowing studio in his garage. Together with his wife they begin selling the lamp at art fairs and to small shops, and before long the Wolfard Oil Lamp is a favorite among the art-and-design set across the country.
Produced continuously since, it's still a favorite because it's perfect in so many situations - summer evenings on the patio, in lieu of candles for romantic meals, on the coffee table lighting long winter nights. It makes an outstanding gift, particularly for housewarmings, engagements and weddings.
Always produced in limited quantities, each lamp is mouth-blown of heat-resistant borosilicate glass. They are still made in Northern California.
Each lamp comes with a wickholder, two pieces of wick and a fillerspout.
